Here's some frequently asked questions

Marcus Oldham College is spread across 500 acres on the outskirts of Geelong, near the Great Ocean Road and just one-hour from Melbourne.

For the Diploma of Equine Management course there are extensive facilities that include but are not limited to:

  • Private indoor arena with 24 hour access for students
  • Outdoor sand arena
  • Undercover round yard
  • Two stables
  • Hot and cold wash-bays
  • College float
  • Horse crushes
  • Large paddocks

Yes, however applicants that have not completed Year 12 or equivalent qualification will have to demonstrate significant post-secondary school experience during their application and interview.

Students from 2023 onwards are required to have 12 months employment experience between completing year 12 or equivalent and enrolling in the course

If you are in Year 12 currently and want to study in 2024, you can apply after you receive your year 12 results as long as you plan to have a year out in industry. Each applicant will be interviewed and their application assessed using a ranking scale based on a combination of academic results, work experience and the interview. A provisional offer may be made dependant on the successful completion of year 12, the submission of results and your plans for your year of industry experience.

You can apply for entry into the 2023 Diploma of Equine Management/Advanced Diploma of Equine Business Management now. Places are in the course are limited and those who apply after all the spots have been filled will be put on a wait list in the event a place opens up. We encourage students to apply as soon as possible if they intend to study so they do not miss out on a place in the course or the on-campus accommodation. You can apply online here.

Equine Management students are provided with paddock agistment with supplementary hay, for one horse. The additional costs associated with farriery, dentistry, veterinary and hard feed, are to be borne by the student. If a student cannot bring a horse, the College will lease a horse to the student for the year at a nominal rate. Equine students might also be able to seek reimbursement for some event entry costs by agreement with the course Director.

FEE-HELP is only available for tuition fees. The election as to what portion of the tuition fees a student wishes to place on FEE-HELP must be made prior to the Census Date for each period.

FEE-HELP is a Commonwealth government program available to Australian residents for any of the Marcus programs. There are a limited number of eligibility rules and you should refer to the government FEE-HELP website for current eligibility. Generally, FEE-HELP is not available to student visa holders.

Marcus Oldham will incorporate all of its charges in the tuition and residential fee, however, the student body often runs social events, organises year group clothing and magazine and has a membership fee. Expenses such as these are not compulsory although most students will want to take part in student life and its associated costs.
