Nominations for the 2023 Sir James Darling Graduate of Excellence award close on the 13th of October 2023 and we are calling on our College community to help nominate a worthy recipient.

You can nominate anyone who is a past graduate of the College, and it is a great way to shine a light on the contributions yourself, a classmate or friend has made to their community or industry.

Past recipients of this award include Howard Hansen (Hansen Orchards – FM94) in 2007, Judy (HBM82) and Tim (FM82) Croagh in 2012 (Western Plains Pork), James Riordan (Riordan Grain – FM93) in 2017 and current Chairman of Marcus Oldham Council, Rob McGavin (Cobram Estate Olives Limited – AG93) in 2000, to name just a few.

There are a few key areas which we are looking for in each nomination with them being:

Leadership – How has the nominee demonstrated leadership capacity in their community, industry or business and shown they are prepared to get out in front?

Innovation – Has the nominee developed new or innovative ways of doing business and if so, how have these assisted their industry or community?

Community/Industry Presence – How is the nominee involved in their community or industry and have they gone above and beyond the norm?

Success – Is the business the nominee works in or owns, successful? If so, what impact did the nominee have on driving this success?

Any other supporting information will be considered, and more detailed information and application details can be found on the Marcus website here: marcusoldham.vic.edu.au/alumni/graduate-of-excellence-award

If you would like to have a confidential discussion about nominating yourself, a classmate or other graduate of the College, please do not hesitate to reach out to current MOCOSA President Peter Stephens (FM83) or MOCOSA Secretary, Georgie Thomson (AG12).

Thank you in advance for your assistance in helping us find the next Graduate of Excellence.
