Established in 1962 in Geelong, Marcus Oldham is an independent tertiary College with a reputation for innovation and excellence in Agriculture, Agribusiness and Equine Management.

The College has a vacancy for a person to undertake the following duties:

  • Undertake all aspects related to the administration and operation of the MOC Library
  • Select, acquire and catalogue materials using the Liberty library software
  • Create, update and manage electronic and printed information resources
  • Develop and manage collections of books & journals (both print and electronic) and websites
  • Undertake research for the Principal and staff using a variety of resources
  • Provide inter-library loan and document delivery services to staff and students
  • Assist students with literature searches using databases, printed resources and the internet
  • Provide a current awareness service for academic staff and students
  • Deliver information literacy sessions to students
  • Provide study skills assistance (eg. report layout, referencing, proofreading) to students in individual or group settings and through different modes of contact (eg. Face to face, email, phone)
  • Develop, collect and manage the physical and digital resources of the College Archive
  • Provide advice to staff in relation to copyright matters, particularly involving the College LMS
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with academic staff and on- and off-campus students
  • Participate in academic meetings as requested
  • Carry out other duties as agreed with the Principal

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree and/or postgraduate qualification in Information Management or equivalent, which qualifies for professional membership of the Australian Library & Information Association
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of library applications (both print and electronic) to improve delivery of library services and engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students academically
  • Ability to solve problems and make independent decisions, but also work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to empathise with and motivate young adults
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of current developments and trends in the library and information environment


  • Knowledge of information resources relevant to business, agriculture, agribusiness and equine industries.
  • Knowledge of the Softlink Liberty library software or similar library systems
  • Relevant experience in an educational or special library environment
