Marcus Oldham College is proud to announce its partnership with the Geelong Eventing Association as the official naming rights sponsor for the 2024 Geelong Horse Trials, set to take place on the 10th and 11th of March.

This strategic collaboration underscores Marcus Oldham’s enduring commitment to advancing the equestrian landscape in Australia and fostering careers within the equine sector.

Andrew Baker, the College Principal, expressed his excitement around supporting this local event, which has acted as a stepping stone for numerous successful careers in the equine industry.

“With the recent launch of our Advanced Diploma of Equine Business Management with pathways to further study, we hope that some of the competitors will see Marcus Oldham as a valuable launching place to further their studies and advance their career into the equine industry” Andrew said.

“It’s great to see our alumni actively involved in organising the event. The fact that the course is designed by graduate Ewan Kellet (EBM’96), an individual with a portfolio of courses worldwide, adds an extra layer of excellence.”

The Geelong Horse Trials have been organised and run by Geelong Eventing Association since its inception and Dressage Coordinator, Lucy Gubbins, and Geelong Eventing Association President, Sarah May, are excited to have Marcus Oldham College on board again as a key partner.

“Geelong Eventing Association’s ongoing partnership with Marcus Oldham College is a testament to the close link between the College and the equine industry, but also the broader agricultural industry.” said Lucy.

‘Many of our competitors come from an agricultural background in some respect and it’s great for our riders to see the range of opportunities Marcus can offer.”

‘We are so excited to have Marcus Oldham College, one of our long-time supporters on board for another year. It is wonderful to continue sharing our partnership with riders and past College alumni from across Australia who are competing at and involved in the event,” said Sarah May.

‘It is great to see Marcus Oldham fostering students’ education in the Equine and Agricultural Industries through the wonderful teaching and facilities they offer. We are honoured to be partnered with such a great College.”

The Marcus Oldham Geelong Horse Trials is an extra special event for College alumni and cross country course designer Ewan Kellet who has designed and built courses all over the world.

“I’ve been designing at Geelong since it moved to ‘Barwoneligh’ in 2010. The event is very special to me because my dear friend Gill Elwes and I developed the course from a green field site to what it is today.” Ewan Kellet said.

‘The fact that Marcus Oldham sponsored the event also makes it special as I hold my time at the college very dearly. It is a privilege to be part of the event.”
