First Tasmanian Study Tour
For the first time, Marcus Oldham students ventured to Tasmania for their week-long study tour, exploring a diverse mix of farming and agribusiness operations across the state.
Organised for the second-year Agriculture (FM3) students by Marcus lecturers Oli Vidor BB(Ag)’17 and Patrick Amos, both originally from Tasmania, the tour gave 39 students a unique opportunity to connect theory with practice in a range of enterprises — from seed production and dairy to high-end beef and horticulture.
The tour was made possible thanks to generous sponsorship, including $5,000 from Botanical Resources Australia and $2,000 from Upper Murray Seeds and Burlington Berries, with hospitality also provided by Landfall Angus, Greenhams, Simplot Australia and Ashgrove Cheese.
This support not only reduced costs for students but enriched the experience through generous local hospitality.
A standout feature of the tour was the strong involvement of Marcus alumni, who hosted visits and shared their industry insights and career journeys.
