The Douglas Boyd Learning Centre
Industry is reliant on great minds; people with real practical skills, knowledge and innovative ideas, entrepreneurial talents and a strong business acumen.
In 2017, Marcus Oldham announced its plans to build a state of the art Learning Centre. A unique teaching facility that will provide a range of dynamic learning spaces, access to phenomenal technological capabilities and with the ability to connect educators, students, graduates and business leaders from around the world.
What this will mean for industry is a new kind of leader, a dynamic graduate equipped with 21st-century skills, experience and a global mindset.
The College Foundation is delighted to acknowledge the generous contribution made by Philip Myer which has seeded this project. The sheer passion and dedication that the Myer family has towards educating young people for the betterment of Australian agriculture is exciting and extremely humbling.
The College Foundation was given the task of raising a further $5 million / 50% of the funds needed to complete this project. Through the generosity of the College community the Foundation has now secured $2.4 million.
In December 2019, construction of the learning centre was completed. In February 2020, we welcomed students back to the college and officially opened The Douglas Boyd Centre.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students returned home in early March to undertake their study through online delivery. Whilst the year may not have commenced the way we had envisaged, the new technological capabilities within the learning centre enabled us to provide highly interactive classes, that included involvement with industry leaders from around the world.
We are now starting to see the return of our students to the campus, albeit with strict social distancing practices in place.
We look forward to showcasing The Douglas Boyd Centre in full activity once our world returns to normal.
We are humbled by our college community and the many people who have given so generously to this project. However, whilst our building is complete, our fundraising is not. There are some wonderful ways that you can still be involved in this project.
