Marcus Oldham College Council will vote on 8 December, to commence construction in the new year of the new 45-bed student accommodation building.
The College Foundation’s fundraising campaign is nearing the $7 million needed by the December meeting, due to the outstanding support and generosity from alumni, philanthropies, individuals and industry.
Marcus Oldham Council Chair Rob McGavin said: “We are celebrating the extraordinary generosity and support for the College and our achievements.”
“However, we still need firm commitments of another $700,000 for Council to give the green light in December.”
Marcus Oldham Foundation Chair James Bufton said: “We have received significant financial support, particularly in recent weeks, from past graduates in recognition of the impact Marcus has had in shaping their lives, and charitable foundations who understand the value Marcus graduates bring to the future of Australian agriculture.”
The total cost of the 45-bed accommodation will be $10 million. Fundraising for the $3 million to complete the building will commence in 2024.
