Scholarships and bursaries have been awarded to 53 Marcus Oldham students this year, thanks to the generosity of the College’s sponsors and donors.

Warriwidgee scholarship recipient, FM1 student Sarah Pearce, recently visited her sponsor Peter Guthrie, who at 96 has now retired from farming and moved into the Skipton Aged Care Facility.

Sarah is from Lameroo, SA. She is the fourth generation to farm the family property which her great grandfather moved to during The Great Depression.

Peter has been supporting his Warrawidgee Scholarships at Marcus Oldham for 24 years, to enable young people passionate about agriculture the opportunity to advance their tactical agriculture education in Victoria. Peter told Sarah he had to travel to England to go to Ag College.

Peter is excited for the upcoming generation to take farming to the next level.

Sarah said she is grateful for sponsors like Peter, who believe in the next generation and support their education at this premium level, that gives students the confidence to continue and progress on the hard work of the preceding generations.
