Marcus Oldham College students had the opportunity to further connect with leading employers from across the agricultural and agribusiness sectors on Wednesday 27 May, when more than 30 organisations visited the College for the annual Careers Expo.
Held in the Douglas Boyd Learning Centre, the event brought together students from both the Bachelor of Business (Agribusiness) and Bachelor of Business (Agriculture) programs, providing valuable opportunities to explore graduate programs, internships, industry placements and future career pathways.
Throughout the afternoon, students met directly with industry representatives, gained insights into the diverse range of careers available across the sector and developed connections that may support their future employment opportunities.
The Careers Expo continues to be an important part of the Marcus Oldham experience, helping students build professional networks and better understand the skills, attributes and opportunities sought by employers.
Second year Agribusiness student Hugo Rogers from Jemalong, NSW, said the event provided valuable exposure to a wide range of businesses and career options.
“It was a great opportunity to speak with a range of businesses across the agricultural industry and gain a better understanding of the different career pathways available.”
Second year Agribusiness student Henry Hawker from Clare, SA, said the event was an excellent networking opportunity.
“It is a great opportunity to build relationships with people within the agribusiness sector and gain a greater understanding of future career pathways.”
Final year Agriculture student Jock Adamson said the event played an important role in helping students explore career opportunities and make valuable industry connections.
“The Careers Expo gave me the opportunity to engage with a wide range of businesses and professionals across the agricultural industry, build valuable connections and explore potential pathways for future employment.
Speaking directly with industry representatives gave me a better understanding of what working within their businesses would be like and helped me identify opportunities that align with my interests and career aspirations.
It was encouraging to see the diverse range of opportunities available both on farm and across the broader agricultural sector.”
