With the end of the year approaching, final-year students are navigating significant challenges. Topics like dealing with change and resilience are timely as they face concerns about their future careers, the transition back to family farms, and the realities of close living arrangements is wearing off.
On top of this, they’re managing a demanding assessment load, which adds to the pressures of this transitional period.
With all this in mind, Deputy Principal Elizabeth Gubbins organised a session for the students, in partnership with Geelong Football Club, called “Embracing Uncertainty: A high-performance perspective on optimising human performance”.
Football Club Lead Psychologist, David Williams, developed the morning’s program in consultation with Marcus Minds Program Manager Kris Hinck, providing information about what happens to our brain when we face uncertainty, and how to implement strategies to stay motivated and perform at your highest ability.
The College is incredibly grateful for the support from Geelong legend Tom Hawkins, Geelong AFLW player Chantel Emonson and Geelong Board member and Director of the Sharp Group, Lyndsey Sharp, who contributed their valuable time for a lively panel discussion with the students.
The response from the students has been extremely positive, and the College is working towards creating an annual event with the Geelong Football Club.
