Founded in 1865, Hazeldean is one of Australia’s oldest family-owned pastoral companies. The company embraces advances in education, research and development in agriculture particularly for the purposes of breeding superior seedstock. Hazeldean Pty Ltd is one of Australia’s largest seedstock businesses and operates from holdings in the Monaro and Riverina districts of Southern New South Wales.
“Hazeldean has long believed that the future of Australian agriculture depends on producers who combine a genuine curiosity for evidence-based science with the practical skills to apply it on the ground. Profitability in extensive grazing is rarely accidental, and the education Marcus Oldham provides gives graduates the tools to make better decisions, year after year, in real businesses under real conditions.
Our family has seen firsthand what that kind of training produces, and supporting this scholarship is one of the most direct investments we can make in the next generation of Australian agricultural leaders. We hope it encourages the same commitment to objectivity, continuous learning, and honest self-assessment that we try to bring to Hazeldean every day.”
